Support Gordon Chaffin for D.C.
Gordon Chaffin is a dog walker hustling to pay bills in the working class. He’s running for Congress to represent Washington, D.C. As Delegate, he’ll fight for more affordable essentials with an urgency driven from his own cost of living challenges.
Gordon Pounds Pavement to Pay Bills
A proud 16-year Washingtonian, Gordon has busted his tail to find and keep solid financial footing on the basics like housing and healthcare. Gordon’s gone broke in D.C., but he’s gotten up off the mat thanks to hard work. He’s built multiple small businesses in the unforgiving gig economy.
While building this grassroots campaign for Congress, Gordon continues to directly experience the affordability challenges that other decision-makers can only talk about in the abstract. We need to elect different kinds of people to restore the feasibility of District residents to flourish right here, rather than needing to seek opportunity elsewhere.
Cut Red Tape to Help More People
Gordon has escaped eviction because of Emergency Rental Assistance, avoided bankruptcy because of Medicaid, and completed night classes thanks to need-based scholarships.
Gordon has fought through long lines, confusing instructions, and buggy mobile applications to get help he needed from safety net programs. He knows the way out because he’s been stuck there with you. More mazes of paperwork fix nothing.
Gordon: Make D.C. Affordable & Fair
Making Washington D.C. more affordable is a math problem, but also a moral cause. It’s about spiritual deliverance as much as dollars and cents. Right now, D.C.'s working and middle classes ante up to the economy with their sweat and their dreams, only to face crushing odds in a rigged game. It’s time voters tap someone who stands shoulder-to-shoulder with them to go knock some heads on Capitol Hill.
